How can I import my NFTs to Foundation?

We automatically import Ethereum L1 ERC-721 contracts from the following platforms:

  • SuperRare*
  • Manifold*
  • KnownOrigin (V3)
  • 1stDibs
  • Transient Labs

*3D Manifold and SuperRare NFTs are not fully supported at the moment - these NFTs will surface fallback assets only.

For most contracts on these platforms, no additional action is required to get these NFTs visible on Foundation. For Transient Labs contracts, the creator will need to opt in for the contracts and their NFTs to populate on Foundation. For contracts not in this list, we are unable to manually import at this time.

Transient Labs contracts are indexed if the creator opts into it on Transient Labs. Foundation will support the core functions of the ERC-721 contracts. To learn more about how to index your Transient Labs contract onto Foundation, visit Transient's Help Center.

Can I refresh the metadata?

Metadata for imported contracts are automatically refreshed, so you won't need to refresh the metadata on your end. Please reach out to Foundation Support if you have any questions!

Why are my NFTs not displaying?

Foundation has a file upload limit of 50 MB, and supports JPG, GIF, SVG, PNG, MP4, GLTF, TIFF, MOV, WEBM, M4V and GLB files. If your file does not meet these criteria, it will not display properly at this time.

You may see an “unable to render content” error. This is the expected outcome until we can support more file types and larger file sizes.

Please also note that we are currently only supporting ERC-721 contracts. If you have minted to an ERC-1155 contract, we will not import those.

Support for imported 3D NFTs is limited on Foundation. Some 3D NFTs will remain in a “fallback state”, which means that fallback image assets will be used rather than the original 3D asset. Our team has been steadily working on building out full support but we don’t have a timeline in place for now.

Can I mint to my non-Foundation contract (Manifold, Transient Labs, etc) on foundation.app directly?

No, not at this time — but if you mint more NFTs on those platforms, we will import them.

I don't want these NFTs to appear on my profile. Can I hide or remove them?

At this time — no. However, we encourage you to make use of the Home Tab on your profile, which will enable you to curate which NFTs display on your default profile page when people visit it.

Transient Labs NFTs will only be indexed and appear on your Foundation profile if you opt in and select to index your contract via the Lab.

Will Foundation import my editions?

Yes! Foundation will surface your ERC-721 editions as a stack of NFTs on your profile's Created tab. The stack can be expanded to show all NFTs minted in that edition.

If your editions aren't rendering as expected, please reach out to Support and we'll be happy to help!

Why is my collection attached to my hardware wallet and not my Foundation profile?

In order to determine the creator of the collection, we use the “owner” (as defined by the owner() function on the contract) of the collection ERC721 contract.

If your NFTs are not showing in the desired wallet, unfortunately there is no way to move them at this time.

Can I move my collection to a different Foundation profile?

The collection will be linked to the wallet that deployed the contract, and it is not possible to move contracts to another wallet at this time.

Why don’t some of my Transient Labs smart contract features populate on Foundation?

Foundation will index all ERC-721 smart contracts from Transient Labs if the creator opts into it. However, some features, including stories, are not currently supported on Foundation. These features are still recorded on the blockchain and can be viewed on Transient Labs or Etherscan. Custom smart contracts from Transient Labs will display the media file (if it's a supported file type), metadata description, and any attributes for the NFT on Foundation.

Why aren’t my Base NFTs imported?

Foundation currently only supports Base NFTs and Contracts created with Foundation's creator tools or Highlight's Generative Series tools. Base smart contracts and NFTs not made with the tools mentioned earlier are not imported automatically.
