What is an L2?
L2 is short for “layer 2.” L2s are blockchains built on top of another blockchain, which helps lower fees and increase scalability. You can read more about different L2s here.
What L2s does Foundation support?
Foundation currently supports Base as our only L2. We may support other L2s in the future, so keep an eye out for updates on our Twitter and Warpcast.
What is Base?
Base is an Ethereum layer 2 chain developed by Coinbase. It runs on Optimism and helps scale Ethereum by bundling transactions and lowering gas fees for users. You can read more about Base here.
How can I see my transactions on Base?
Foundation uses Basescan and Blockscout as block explorers to show transactions. These sites are very similar to Etherscan and allow you to confirm whether a transaction was successful on the blockchain.
What Base NFTs can I buy and sell?
Foundation 1/1 NFTs, Drops, Editions contracts, and Galleries are supported on L2 as of April 2, 2024. You can deploy all of these on Base and collect from them as well.

How do I buy Base ETH?
You can bridge your ETH into Base ETH by following the instructions in our Help Center here.
How can I tell Base NFTs apart from Ethereum NFTs?
You can see which chain an NFT is on in the details section of the NFT page. Chain information is also available on Drops pages under “Chain.”
Do I need to switch networks to make purchases for Base NFTs and Ethereum NFTs?
Yes. Whenever you make a transaction on Foundation, always confirm that you are on the correct network and review the transaction details carefully. You can change networks by opening your wallet and selecting the network in the upper right-hand corner. You can also confirm the active network by clicking your profile photo in the upper right-hand corner and checking the logo shown in your balance.
