When we take enforcement actions on Foundation, we may do so either on a specific NFT, an entire collection, or a wallet/profile. In some instances, this is because a behavior violates our Terms of Service or Foundation Rules. Other times, it may be in response to a valid request from an authorized entity in a given country. Below are some of the enforcement actions that we may take.
NFT Level Actions
We take action on individual NFTs to ensure that we are not being overly harsh with an otherwise healthy account that made a mistake and violated our rules. As a reminder, since the NFT exists on the blockchain, all enforcement actions merely limit the degree to which a user will be able to view the NFT on Foundation. A few of the ways in which we might take action on an NFT include:
DMCA Takedown: This action removes the NFTs from being accessible/viewable on Foundation when our Trust & Safety team receives a DMCA claim. For more information on how we handle this, consult our article on copyright.
In Review: This action temporarily removes the NFT from being accessible/viewable on Foundation while our Trust & Safety team investigates the NFT for potential TOS violations. When this action is applied, Trust & Safety will endeavor to either remove or restore the NFT within 72 hours.
Removed: This action removes the NFT from being accessible/viewable on Foundation for Terms of Service violations. When this action is applied, only the creator, collector and Foundation will be able to view the NFT. Creators who would like to dispute this ruling are encouraged to reach out to us at Trust@foundation.app.
Collection Level Actions
We take action on entire collections as another measure to ensure that we do apply overly restrictive measures on accounts that are considered to be generally good actors. As a reminder, since the Collection and the NFTs minted onto it exist on the blockchain, all enforcement actions merely limit the degree to which a user can interact with the underlying smart contract on Foundation and the degree to which a user will be able to view the collection and minted NFTs on Foundation. A few of the ways in which we might take action on an collection include:
DMCA Takedown: This action removes the Collection and underlying NFTs from being accessible/viewable on Foundation when our Trust & Safety team receives a DMCA claim. For more information on how we handle this, consult our article on copyright.
In Review: This action temporarily removes the Collection from being accessible/viewable on Foundation while our Trust & Safety team investigates the collection for potential Terms of Service violations. When this action is applied, Trust & Safety will endeavor to either remove or restore the collection within 72 hours. The Collection and all of the NFTs minted onto this collection will be viewable by the creator and Foundation; collectors will only be able to view their individually owned NFTs.
Removed: This action removes the Collection from being accessible/viewable on Foundation for Terms of Service violations. When this action is applied, only the creator and Foundation will be able to view the collection. The Collection and all of the NFTs minted onto this collection will be viewable by the creator and Foundation; collectors will only be able to view their individually owned NFTs. Creators who would like to dispute this ruling are encouraged to reach out to us at Trust@foundation.app.
Profile Level Actions
We take action at the wallet/account level if we determine that an account has violated the Terms of Service in a significant way or if they have repeatedly violated the Terms even after receiving multiple notifications from us. A few of the ways in which we might take action on a profile include:
In Review: This action temporarily removes the Collection from being accessible/viewable on Foundation while our Trust & Safety team investigates the collection for potential Terms of Service violations.
